Forestville Crime Watch: Thefts, Fires and Traffic Incidents Keep Locals Alert

Forestville crime watch has stayed uncomfortably busy across the past four weekly police round-ups. The suburb saw youth disorder, stolen vehicles, break-ins and road crashes. A kitchen fire also added to the list. Even so, emergency crews kept each incident under control.

The trouble started on 26 September near Woodlands Road. Police then logged repeated calls near Melwood Avenue on 6, 7 and 8 October. Officers also responded near Ryrie Avenue late on 8 October. That pattern will worry nearby residents. It points to a stubborn trouble spot after dark.

A Kitchen Flue Fire on Altona Avenue

Forestville also had a close call at Altona Avenue on 28 September. Firefighters reached the home after a kitchen flue caught alight. They used a CO2 extinguisher and then checked the roof space with thermal imaging. They found no spread and cleared smoke with a high-pressure fan.

That response matters. Small fires can turn serious fast. In this case, crews acted quickly and limited the damage. It was a calm ending to a potentially nasty blaze.

Stolen Cars and Shopfront Trouble

The thefts have been hard to ignore. Police reported stolen vehicles on Warringah Road on 26, 29 and 30 September, then again on 7 October. Officers also recorded stolen property from premises on Warringah Road on 6 October. That same stretch of road clearly needs more attention.

The Centre also featured in the police log. On 12 October, officers investigated a break-in there. Later that day, they reported goods stolen from a store on Warringah Road. For traders, that kind of pattern cuts straight into confidence. It also puts more pressure on local security.

Roads Bring More Delays Than Comfort

Forestville roads had their own run of drama. Police recorded a collision at Cook Street on 13 October. Then, on 15 October, a three-car crash on Warringah Road near Ryrie Avenue brought delays for about an hour. Paramedics checked two drivers, but neither needed hospital treatment.

Later that night, another two-car collision happened at Cannons Parade near Darley Street. No injuries were reported. That was the upside in a week full of interruptions. Crews moved fast and kept the scene safe.

Forestville crime watch tells a mixed story. The suburb faced repeat trouble spots, but no major injury toll. Still, the number of calls is a reminder. A little extra care, and a bit more neighbourly awareness, would help the week ahead feel steadier.
